Supplies and Materials Needed
  • 6 oz of #00 Fimo Translucent Clay
  • 2 oz of Fimo classic black clay
  • 3 Tbs of assorted fragrant herbs (chopped)
  • Small glass Pyrex bowl (3" diameter, oven safe)
  • Circle cutters (3.5" diameter and 2.75" diameter)
  • Star cutter (3.5" diameter)
  • Tiny circle cutter (8mm)
  • carving tool or linoleum cutter
  • small 4" ceramic tile
  • acrylic rod or pasta machine for rolling clay flat

  • Clay must be conditioned. Knead until soft and pliable.
  • Once you have conditioned your clay mix herbs into the transparent clay.
  • Roll out transparent clay into a long flat strip. 1.75" x 10"
  • Apply strip around your pyrex bowl. Cut to fit and smooth seams.
  • Cure in the oven at 275 for 25 minutes.
  • Allow to cool and gently remove the cured clay from the bowl. Edge a butter knife under to loosen if needed.
  • To create the bottom- Roll out black clay onto a small tile, place clay bowl on top. Cut around to fit.
  • Roll another sheet of black clay. Cut enough tiny circles to go around the top edge of your bowl. If you're having trouble making them stick, use a dab of Sculpey Diluent on bowl.
  • Cure at 275 for 25 minutes.
  • Roll a sheet of black. Roll out a sheet of translucent. Place the Translucent on top of the black. Cut a 3.5" circle or the size to fit your bowl.
  • Gently create an impression with your star cookie cutter without cutting through all the way.
  • Roll out a sheet of black 1/8" thick. Cut a 2.75" circle or one to fit the inside diameter of your bowl. Place this on the under side of the star piece. This will be your lid.
  • Cure at 275 for 25 minutes.
  • Once cooled, carve your star with your linoleum cutter or carving tool. Back fill with soft black clay.
  • Cure at 275 for 25 minutes.
  • To finish your box, wet sand with a 400 grit then a 600 grit sandpaper. Buff to shine.
  •

Make your runes from the same mix of clay and store inside the box.
